the glory of the LORD

if the Lord were to show me His full glory, my head would explode.

seriously.

---

18 And he [Moses] said, "Please, show me Your glory."
19 Then He said, "I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."
20 But He said, "You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live."
21 And the LORD said, "Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock.
22 So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by.
23 Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen."

ahhh, that passage gives me chills.

but how many times am i aware of the grace and glory of God as He is presenting it to me? yes, i am often aware of his presence.

driving along loop 322 in abilene, texas, on my way to cisco junior college at 7:30 in the morning, just as the sun's fingertips are finding their way over the horizon, and i look down at the low places and see wisps of fog, hovering over the ground as if unwilling to surrender the day.

taking samantha (my mom's dog) out on that last potty break before bed to the park, to feel the crisp winter air, feeling total silence except for the occasional car on the nearby highway. i look up to see the myriad stars rejoice at His majesty.

it is amazing how in times of my life i have closed my eyes and wondered why i could not see the glory of the LORD. but when we approach Him, saying "show me your glory," He places us in the cleft of the rock (Jesus), and covers us with His hand as He passes by. then we see what has happened and praise God saying, "surely this is the work of the LORD."

but we are not able to see His face.

Hi, Christopher. Sorry about the double posting. I did not think the first one went through. I am reading through the Bible on a year plan which breaks in to 4 readings each day from O.T., Wisdom Lit., Gospels, and what's left of the N.T. I am enjoying this so much that I am neglecting my fiction reading, which I used to do voraciously. I love your thoughts. Keep them coming. FYI: I am Ed's little sister, Judy.
